Senior Professional Staff Member for Financial Institutions from the office of Senator Tim Scott

Colin Carr is a Senior Professional Staff Member on the Senate Banking Committee, Senator Tim Scott’s Office, where he leads the committee’s financial institutions policy portfolio. His issues of focus include bank and credit union regulation, consumer finance, fintech, payments, and monetary policy. He joined the committee staff in September 2025.

 

Prior to this role, Colin spent three years at the Consumer Bankers Association, a trade association comprising approximately 75 of the nation’s largest retail banks. He focused on CFPB legislative and regulatory policy and other consumer banking issues.

Before his time at CBA, Colin worked as a legislative staff member for his hometown Congressman Barry Loudermilk of Georgia for eight years, concluding as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director. Colin’s primary focus was Congressman Loudermilk’s work on the House Financial Services Committee.

Colin holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia.
